CalSTRS staff shared that President Biden signed the federal Social Security Fairness Act (H.R. 82) into law on Sunday, January 5, 2025.

CalSTRS staff updated the board’s Benefits and Services Committee on how the concepts behind recently passed creditable compensation and creditable service simplification legislation will impact members and employers.

The Teachers' Retirement Board took a support position on Assembly Bill 65 (Aguiar-Curry), which would provide up to 14 weeks of fully paid leave for California public school employees for pregnancy, miscarriage, childbirth, termination of pregnancy or recovery from those conditions.
