CalSTRS pay dates
Scheduled benefit payment dates are listed in the tables below. December direct deposit payments are made in January of the following year.
Mailing dates are determined by the State Controller’s Office, the check issuer.

Why your paper benefit check looks different
Your paper benefit check has a new look. The California State Controller’s Office, which prints and mails all CalSTRS benefit checks, recently changed the design and type of paper used for your benefit check.
Your check now arrives on a thinner, single sheet of paper. The check appears in light green at the top, and your benefit payment statement is found directly below it.
We understand this new format may be confusing, especially if you are used to the previous style. CalSTRS was not notified ahead of time about this change.
How to make sure you don’t miss your check
Review the entire sheet carefully so you don’t accidentally discard your check.
The new check design does not include a perforated edge to separate your check from the statement. If you have any questions about depositing your check, please contact your financial institution.
