Tax season is over—let’s refocus your financial future

Now’s a great time to save more money for your retirement. Enrolling in CalSTRS Pension2® voluntary supplemental savings plan gives you an opportunity to build additional savings for retirement and save with lower fees. Already enrolled? Increase your account contributions by $25, $50, $100 or more to enhance your account’s growth potential and lower your next tax bill.

With Pension2 you can:

  • Build additional savings to complement your CalSTRS defined benefit pension: You decide how much—up to the IRS maximum annual limit.
  • Reduce your current tax bill: Every pretax dollar you contribute to Pension2 lowers your taxable income.
  • Invest for less: You may benefit by moving your retirement assets into Pension2, which has lower fees compared to many other retirement plans available to California school employees.

Open your Pension2 account in three easy steps:

  1. Enroll at Pension2.com or complete and submit the CalSTRS Pension2 403(b) or 457(b) enrollment form available at CalSTRS.com/forms under the “Manage my Pension2 account” tab, or call us at 888-394-2060.
  2. Decide how much you want to invest. Since you don’t contribute to Social Security as a CalSTRS member, consider investing the 6.2% of your monthly salary that would have gone to Social Security.
  3. Complete your district’s salary reduction agreement form available at your payroll office or 403bCompare.com and select “Find Employer.”
