CalSTRS is even further ahead of schedule than last year in its goal to reach full funding by 2046. This good news is one of the key findings from the ninth annual Review of Funding Levels and Risks report.

The CalSTRS Collaborative Model investment strategy continues to strengthen the Teachers’ Retirement Fund. The model has saved CalSTRS more than $2 billion since 2017, including more than $360 million in 2023.

CalSTRS Chief Executive Officer Cassandra Lichnock announced that Chief Investment Officer Scott Chan was named an Elite 100 CIO by Markets Group. Chan was chosen for his leadership, vision and significant contributions to the investment industry.

CalSTRS released its basic financial statements for the 2023–24 fiscal year at the November board meeting. The statements show the fund remains in sound fiscal health, capable of meeting its obligations to members and their beneficiaries.

Representatives from the California Retired Teachers Association (CalRTA) presented a symbolic check to the Teachers' Retirement Board at its November meeting, showing the positive effect retired members have on their communities.
