Christopher J. Ailman, who has served as chief investment officer of CalSTRS since 2000, announced his retirement to the Teachers' Retirement Board Investment Committee at its January 2024 meeting.

It also leads to a greater likelihood that CalSTRS will achieve its goal of being a sustainable organization, which supports its mission to provide a secure retirement for California's public educators.

Every four years, the Teachers' Retirement Board reviews the actuarial assumptions used by CalSTRS to ensure they remain reasonable, reflect the experience of the system, and are appropriate for assessing funding levels and determining the contribution levels from the state and employers needed to achieve full funding.

At its January 2024 meeting, the Teachers' Retirement Board’s Investment Committee approved changes to the CalSTRS Corporate Governance Principles and Stewardship Priorities for the next three-year cycle.

The Teachers' Retirement Board approved its calendar of meetings for the 2024–25 fiscal year. All meetings will be held at CalSTRS headquarters in West Sacramento unless otherwise noted.
