On February 27, 2026, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that Michael Gunning of Elk Grove has been reappointed to the Teachers’ Retirement Board, pending state Senate confirmation.

Harry Keiley, chair of the board’s Investment Committee, congratulated Gunning on his reappointment during the March 4 meeting.

Gunning's new term dates are February 27, 2026, through December 31, 2029.
